Garniture , Ming/Jiajing

Garniture , Ming/Jiajing (1522 - 1566)

Small Blue and White Garniture of 2 Meiping and a Baluster vase.

one vase with " Da Ming nian zhi" mark
one vase with "Chang Ming Fu Gui" (long life with wealth and honour) written crosswise in a cash within a double ring. The censer unmarked.

It is very unusual to find a garniture of this period. The shape of the meiping, with a cylindrical neck, broad shoulders, narrow waist, flared foot and a recessed base is also notable.

Compare a near identical small Meiping in the British Museum from the Harry Oppenheim Bequest.

Heigth of vases 16 cm (6 1/4")
Diam. of censer 11.5 cm ( 4 1/4")
